Grandpa's Grandpa (Our ancestral heritage)

Mid-Autumn Festival is not only about mooncakes and lanterns. It is also about remembering the sacrifices of our ancestors, one of the forgotten aspects of the festival nowadays.

In this unique family bonding workshop, rediscover our ancestral heritage in a non-religious manner, and help your child develop a deeper sense of gratitude!

It is mandatory for at least one parent to attend.

For ages: 5-7

To sign up a sibling slightly outside this age range, please Whatsapp us. We will try to accommodate depending on the composition of the class :)

Language of instruction: Chinese

Examples of activities (Subjected to change):

- Doodling Descendants: How big is your family? It’s bigger than you think! Families will sketch their family tree together, tracing as far back as possible. But it doesn’t need to look like a tree. How about, say, a travellator or rivers?

- Family Chemistry: Simple science experiment to understand why blood is thicker than water / 血浓于水. (Don’t worry, no kids will be harmed in the process :P)

- Google Adventure: Learn about clans – via Google Earth

- Home Is Where The Oink Is: Deconstruction of the character "家" and how the Chinese concept of home differs from Western ones.

- Oreo Astronomy: Discover the astronomy of the Chinese calendar - using Oreo cookies!

- And more!

爷爷的爷爷

中秋节的庆祝活动不仅仅包括月饼和灯笼，如今被遗忘的方面之一，就是铭记祖先为我们付出的牺牲。

在这个独特的家庭工作坊中，我们会以非宗教的方式重新体会祖先的遗产，并帮助您的孩子培养更深的感恩之心！

日期：9月6日星期五

时间：早上10点至12点半

地点：10楼，新加坡华族文化中心，1 Straits Blvd, Singapore 018906

适合5至7岁的儿童。

活动示例（可能变动）：

- 一起列出家族成员，追溯家族历史，写出一小家谱。家谱的模样需像一棵树吗？或也可以画成别样，列入像自动人行道或一条长长的河流？

- 通过简单科学实验理解为何血浓于水。（别担心，儿童们不会在过程中受伤！）

- 利用谷歌地球了解宗族文化的概念。 

- 解构“家”这个字与猪的关系，以理解华人和西方人对“家”的概念有何不同。

- 奥利奥天文学：使用奥利奥饼干探索华族历法的天文学！
